Police give notorious militant, ‘Overcomer’ 24 hours to surrender arms
The Police Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi has given a 24-hour ultimatum to a notorious militant in Etim Ekpo Local Government Aarea of the state to surrender his weapons or risks being fished out by the police.
Ogunjemilusi disclosed this on Tuesday at Central Primary School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk in Ukanafun Local Government Area where over 200 militants and cultists surrendered their weapons to embrace the amnesty programme of the state government.
According to the police boss who was accompanied by Gov. Udom Emmanuel, “The police is asking ‘Overcomer’ also known as ‘Englishman’ to come out within 24 hours to surrender his arms and embrace peace.”
Meanwhile, in his remarks, Gov.Emmanuel called on the said ‘Overcomer‘ to come out of the bush like others and surrender before Thursday morning.
“Those of you who have his number, call him and tell him that I want him to come and see me with all his six AK-47 and I will collect it and use it to protect him,” the governor said.
Among the dignitaries that attended the event were, Moses Ekpo, the deputy Governor; Emmanuel Enoidem, the National Legal Adviser of the Party; Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Secretary to the State Government; Udo Ekpenyong, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the chairmen of Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo local government areas.
Recall that the Overcomer was among the 59 persons in the wanted list of the Akwa Ibom police command.
