Ex-NDDC boss, Timi Alaibe dumps APC, returns to PDP
Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, has ditched the All Progressives Congress, APC, and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for tomorrow in Port Harcourt.
At a closed-door ceremony held in his honour at the Government house, Yenagoa, on Friday, Chief Alaibe was received by Governor Seriake Dickson and leaders of the PDP.
Elated Chief Alaibe lauded Gov. Dickson for his ”grandiose” projects in the state, his leadership style and his role in uniting the Ijaw nation.
In his words: “I want to thank you for the continuous commitment that has inspired some of us to continue to remain as a people in the space called Nigeria.
“You have maintained a disciplined PDP to the envy of others, which is why we are here today.
“Your leadership will continue to celebrate that PDP has become the home of ijaw people and for the people of Bayelsa.”
Commenting on his sojourn to the APC, Chief Alaibe noted it was ‘expedient’ at that time but he is back to help build the PDP and Bayelsa state.
He stressed that PDP is home and there is no place like home.
According to him: “all politics is local and as such, a host of us, politicians in Bayelsa are from PDP, so we cannot be out there in the wilderness.
“And so we took this very fundamental decision without looking back; we want to come and support our Governor and the PDP for progress and for the sustainable development of our land the pride of Ijaw people, Bayelsa state.”
He was warmly received by the Governor of Bayelsa state and the occasion was well attended by members of the national assembly, traditional rulers among other dignitaries.
