Oyo APC: Confusion over sudden disappearance of electoral committee members
Tension is currently brewing among members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo Central district over the sudden disappearance of members of the electoral committee assigned to conduct the Senatorial primary election.
FAZENOTETV recalls that the primary elections in the three Senatorial districts billed to hold on Tuesday were later postponed till Wednesday due to late arrival of electoral materials and officials.
Though, the results of the primary elections in both Oyo North and Oyo South which saw the emergence of Senator Abdulfatai Buhari and Governor Abiola Ajimobi respectively have been announced, the election in Oyo Central district as of the time of filling this report on Wednesday has not commenced.
This development has created palpable tension among members of the party.
It was also gathered that members of the ruling party are currently in fear due to the sudden disappearance of the electoral committee members, whom it was learnt, left Akinyele venue of the primary election unannounced.
FAZENOTETV gathered that at about 8.00 p.m. on Wednesday, the team set up by the National Working Committee left when the venue became rowdy and delegates threw stones over perceived imposition of a candidate.
Six (6) aspirants obtained the forms and were cleared by the party to contest the Oyo central senatorial race.
They include: Senator Teslim Folarin; Hon. Temitope Olatoye, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Bimbo Kolade, Engineer Faozey Oladotun, Mr Oyedemi Wakil Oyeleru and Hon. Oluokun George Akintola.
