Israel: Brazil joins US, to move embassy to Jerusalem
Jair Bolsonaro, President-elect of Brazil, has vowed to move the country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Bolsonaro made the vow yesterday via his official Twitter handle.
Moving Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will make Brazil the largest country after the United States to make the switch.
“As previously stated during our campaign, we intend to transfer the Brazilian Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
“Israel is a sovereign state and we shall duly respect that,” he said.
Recall that in December, 2017, President Donald Trump of the United States of America recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
The United States officially moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14.
Other countries that followed in the move were Guatemala and Paraguay.
However, Paraguay announced in October 2018 that it would return its embassy to Tel Aviv.
