Stop plot to rig next elections, Ohuhu elders, youths urge Buhari
A group, Ohuhu Youths for Change (OYC) and elders of Ohuhu community have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies to, as a matter of urgency, foil the plot by some hoodlums sympathetic to the son of a former governor, in collaboration with top INEC officials in Abia State to rig the next House of Assembly and governorship elections in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement by OYC, signed by the President, Akuagaba Ezerendu, said “the people of Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State have unmasked a plot by the son of a former governor of Abia state in conjunction with a top Abia INEC staff to shortchange the will of its people by manipulating the House of Assembly election in favour of the incumbent PDP member, Hon. Kelechi Onuzurike.”
Ndudim said the plot was hatched and used during the last Presidential/NASS election, a development that made it possible that even though the Ohuhu people voted massively for President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates, they discovered that most polling units had no pulling unit result sheets and ward collation result sheets. This gave rise to PMB and the APC candidates being highly shortchanged by INEC officials who shamelessly manipulated the figures to suit the PDP candidates.”
The group said, “Ohuhu people are using this medium to call on the INEC chairman to warn its staff against a repeat of this sinister plot as it will be greatly resisted by its people during the governorship and House of Assembly elections.”
OYC also called on security agencies to deploy tight security in all its five wards’ collation centres as they would not tolerate any false security breach guise to make INEC collate its results outside the constituency’s ward collation centres.
