Onitsha frsc accident

Four members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have died in a ghastly motor accident.
The accident was said to have occurred around 6 p.m a few meters to Oke-Onigbin, a suburb in Ilorin, the state capital, between Oro and Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area on Sunday evening.
The victims were said to be savouring the victory of APC candidate, Abdulraheem Olawuyi, in last Saturday’s House of Representatives by-election for Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the accident, said no death was recorded on the scene of the accident.
But he said some of the victims might have died later in hospitals from the severe injuries they sustained.
Some of the victims included the APC Ward Women Leader in Arandun as well as Segun Adewara and Femi Olaoye.
It was gathered that the death toll had risen to six as a liquor seller, who was reportedly involved in the accident, was said to have died early yesterday.
The other injured persons include the APC Chairman in Irepodun Local Government Area.
They were reportedly conveyed to Landmark Health Centre in Omu Aran and other nearby private hospitals.
The crash occurred at Oke Onigbin area at 6 p.m when a Morano Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) overtook a heavy truck on a single-lane road and had a head-on collision with the vehicle conveying APC members.
A member of the APC said: “The accident occurred between Eleyin and Oke-Onigbin around 6 p.m when they were coming to join us at Oro but met us on our way back to Omu-Aran. So, they had to turn back.
“They had a head-on collision while the oncoming vehicle attempted to overtake a truck.”
The state chapter of the APC condoled with families of the victims.
The party’s spokesperson Folaranmi Aro expressed shock and sadness over the accident.
He prayed God to grant the families of the deceased the strength to bear their losses and grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed.
“We urge all our members and supporters across the state to keep the families of our deceased members and those who were injured in the accident in their prayers,” Bolarinwa said.
Olawuyi described the accident as unfortunate and a rude shock.
A statement by his media aide, Femi David, said the member-elect of the House of Representatives, prayed God to grant the victims eternal rest and their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
He said: “We deeply mourn the departed souls; their contributions and sacrifices will remain evergreen in our memory. We ask God to grant them eternal rest.
