Gov hailed over elevation of oba

His Royal Majesty (HRM) Forum has honoured the Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, with a special recognition award for the elevation of oba in the state in 2018.

The award was conferred on him at the HRM Forum’s first national convention  held at Ile-Ife in Osun State.

Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, said the recognition would not only encourage the governor to continue  his drive towards supporting and strengthening traditional institutions, but an opportunity to do more by ensuring that traditional rulers were offered their rightful place in governance.

According to him, traditional institutions have been strong pillars in the sustenance of democracy, adding that their contributions cannot be over emphasised, as they served as mediators between the government and the governed.

Governor Amosun appreciated the organisers of the event for the recognition, noting that the creation of the forum was in order in this digital age.

In a related development, traditional rulers from Ogun State were treated to a special dinner, courtesy of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in appreciation to their attendance at the event and continued support to the government.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Co-founder of the HRM Heritage, Bashorun Muyiwa Oladipo, thanked the monarchs for being part of the first edition of the HRM convention.

In his goodwill message, Chief  Ojuko called on the monarchs not to rest on their oars and continue to support the Senator  Amosun-led administration by giving more support to its successor.
