Chief Edem Duke, former Minister of Culture and Tourism, says disharmony in the Cross River State All Progressives Congress (APC) is about interests.

Duke said this on Sunday when he commissioned a new Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“There is no faction in Cross River APC; it is interest by various stakeholders in the party in the state.

APC in Cross River failed to conclude its state congress following litigation by the parallel executives members.
The party currently has two Chairmen with each claiming to be the authentic leader.
Last week, Minister of Niger Delta, Pastor Usani Usani and some stakeholders boycotted the party’s congress in Calabar.
They also held a meeting where they announced their rejection of the congress.
In attendance were Usani, Senator Bassey Otu, Rt Hon. Paul Adah, Rt. Hon. Larry Odey, NDDC Commissioner in-charge of Cross River State, Mr. Sylvester Nsa, Dr. Julius Okputu, Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo, Obong Eteyen Umana, Elder Sam Bassey, State Secretary of APC Mr. Francis Ekpenyong, members of the State Executive committee among others.
A communique signed by Godwin Etim John, factional State Chairman, read: “It was resolved that APC in the state should obey the order of Abuja High Court of August 16, 2018 in which a perpetual injunction was placed on APC against conducting any further State Congress in Cross River”.
“Stakeholders agreed that members of the party should not participate in any purported State Congress due to the subsisting court injunction. That any other congress by any group of individuals or party agents in Cross River remains null and void.”
