Generator technician allegedly stabs Disco official over disconnection
A 22-year-old generator technician, Oluwadamilare Temenu, was yesterday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stabbing an official of Ikeja Electricity Distribution
Company (IKEDC) with a broken bottle.
Temenu, a resident of Oshodi, Lagos, is facing charges bordering on breach of the peace and assault before Magistrate J.A. Adegun.
The prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 3, at his residence.
Ogu said Temenu allegedly assaulted the complainant, Mr. Oluwaseyi Amao, while performing his duty.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner leading to breach of the peace and prevented the complainant, Amao, from performing his duty.
According to the prosecutor, Temenu allegedly attacked Amao after disconnecting his electricity for owing over N300,000.
He said when the defendant saw the complainant climbing the pole, he allegedly threatened to deal with him if he dare disconnect his power supply.

He said when his power supply was disconnected, the defendant ran inside his apartment, brought out two bottles and smashed them on the ground.
Ogu said Amao quickly jumped down from the pole on sighting the defendant and ran for his life.
According to him, Temenu caught up with the complainant and allegedly stabbed him in the head and neck.
He said Amao’s colleagues held Temenu and handed him to the police.
Temenu, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Adegun granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
He said the sureties must be employed and show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Adegun adjourned hearing in the matter till January 28.
