Experts Seek More Women Involvement in Peace Building
Eze was speaking at the consolidation of networks and lessons
learnt conference from the UN women intervention project in Adamawa, Gombe and
Plateau States in Abuja.
Since the adoption of the United Nations Security Council
resolution 1325 in 2000, work has been done regarding the effect of conflict on
Nigerian women as well as the full inclusion of women in all peace building
processes.
This process led to the launch of the project tagged
promoting women engagement in peace and security in Northern Nigeria by the UN
women.
The objective was to support women to engage in peace
process and positive development in three Northern States of Adamawa, Gombe and
Plateau.
Four years down the line, this success story prompted this
gathering to consolidate on networks and build on the lessons learnt during
intervention and see how it can be expanded to other states.
The Executive Director of WANEP reaffirmed the important
role of women in the prevention and resolution of conflicts while stressing
their equal participation and full involvement for the maintenance and
promotion of peace and security
The Executive Director says the group will partner
with all key players to make peace building process more sustainable
