Kwara State Assembly coerces Gov Abdulrazaq to recover land housing Ile Arugbo, gives reason

The Kwara State House of Assembly, Tuesday urged the state governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to recover the land housing Ile Arugbo along Iloffa road by the state civil service clinic, Ilorin in the overall public interest.
This was part of the resolutions of the House, following a consideration of a report entitled” Illegal Acquisition, Appropriation and Conversion of government Property with survey No. KWG 927 and LAN/G 1071 situated at iloffa road by the state civil service clinic,GRA, Ilorin, by private individual presented by its Chairman, ahon Felix Awodiji, on the floor of the House.
The Speaker, Engr,Yakubu Danladi Salihu, while reading the resolutions of the House, explained that the need became expedient to ensure that the land was used for the purpose which it was originally meant.
The House also unanimously called on the state governor to declare the allocation of the property to Asa Investment Ltd void for non compliance with due process.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon Awodiji had while presenting the report, observed among other things that the Ile Arugbo mentioned in the middle of the site plan submitted by the Bureau of Land and Surveyor-General’s office that the allocation of the piece of land to Asa Investment Ltd was done by executive fiat as there was no evidence of payment and no title regarding the land had been processed till date.
The House also in its Tuesday’s sitting received a petition on “Illegal Seizure of 704 bags of Rice by the Nigerian Customs Service”,at Baboko market warehouse on August 30,2019, amounting to N9,996,000 presented by member representing Ilorin North West Constituency, Barrister Abdulgafar Ayinla Ayilara at the floor of the House.
The Speaker then referred the petition to the House committee on Commerce, Industry, Cooperative and Social Development for Investigation and report back in two weeks.
