Ministerial nominees: ON WEDNESDAY, Why Senate must return list to Buhari – PDP in Diaspora
A US-based organization comprising members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, known as PDP Diaspora Initiative has called on the Senate to return the ministerial list back to President Muhammadu Buhari on the ground that it is lacking in vision and ambition for the nation.
President Buhari had on Tuesday submitted a list of 43 nominees to the Senate for screening and approval.
A statement made available to FAZE NOTE TV on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Chidi Igwe, the organization said that the list of candidates submitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation betrays the future of Nigeria and has nothing to offer to the nation in the form of change.
The statement added, “In other countries like Canada, France and the United States, women and youth are fully involved in government because they represent the future of the country.
“Why is President Buhari not nominating young people who represent the future of Nigeria? Why is APC robbing Nigeria’s youth of their future?”
The PDP group referred to President Buhari’s previous comments at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London where he allegedly described the Nigerian youth as “lazy and uneducated.”
“Why is the President not including more women in his cabinet?”
The statement also referred to President Buhari’s previous public comment in Germany where he said that the First Lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari belonged in the “kitchen” and “the other room.”
“Why are they recycling these tired APC politicians who have no new ideas to offer and have participated in establishing a culture of corruption and impunity in Nigeria?” Hon. Pamugo asked.
“President Buhari has chosen to recycle these politicians who have been there for too long and have participated in driving the country into the ditch, instead of giving a chance to capable Nigerians who will represent change,”
The statement further referred to the fact that the nominees are a bunch of men, former governors, ministers and APC politicians who have contributed in creating the current problems facing the country.
It added, “Nigerians are suffering from East to West, North to South as a result of lack of vision and leadership from these same APC politicians.
“People have no jobs, no food and no good water to drink.
“There is no reliable power supply for businesses to come and invest in the country. There are no good hospitals, no good public schools.
“We have no good roads. Nigerians are hungry for change. Is this the best that the President can offer to a nation that desperately needs a significant change in direction? As Nigerians in diaspora, we are highly disappointed by this list of recycled APC politicians.
“This list is shortsighted and we reject it. We enjoin the Senate to return it to the President so that he can provide a new list of nominees that will represent the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians.”
