Man gets six-month imprisonment for stealing basket of kolanuts
A 36-year-old – Ige Omotosho – was on Thursday arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Iyin-Ekiti for allegedly stealing a basket of kolanuts.
Omotosho, whose address was not provided, allegedly committed the offence on June 7 at 5 p.m at Ologbara-Gbara farm in Iyin-Ekiti.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Olubu Apata, told the court that the convict went to the farm of Mr Obalore Ogunjemilua and stole a bag of kolanuts valued at N10, 000.

He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Apata, who tendered the basket of kolanuts, said the convict was caught on the scene of the crime.
The Chief Magistrate Mrs Adefumike Anoma sentenced the convict to six-month imprisonment as he pleaded guilty without an option of fine.
