NURTW workers unleash violence at inauguration

POCKETS of violence were witnessed yesterday outside the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan before the inauguration of Seyi Makinde as Oyo State governor came to a close.

About eight people were reportedly injured when touts suspected to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) attacked violence on the people.

The touts, numbering hundreds, were seen at different spots outside the stadium drinking alcoholic drinks and smoking marijuana.

The cause of the fight could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

The touts, who were between the ages of 17-28, freely assaulted innocent people and also damaged vehicles packed on the road.

Many, who expressed disappointment at the conduct of the touts, blamed the leadership of the NURTW for allowing their ‘boys’ to unleashed the mayhem
