EPL: Rio Ferdinand gives verdict on Pogba’s future at Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand said that manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, must make the decision about Pogba’s future at Manchester United.
There has been speculation linking the French star away from Old Trafford and Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid has promoted a fresh wave rumour suggesting that Pogba could be set to make a switch to the Spanish capital.
Forner United boss, Jose Mourinho spent a club record £89m to sign the France international from Juventus in 2016.
Pogba produced a disappointing performance in Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night and their humiliating 4-0 loss to Everton on Sunday.
Talking about the Frenchman’s future at Old Trafford, Ferdinand told BT Sports, “I think that’s a big decision in the summer.
“I think it’s up to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“I think as well there’s been, you here things in the media that he might want to leave and he’s fancying a trip abroad.
“But I think it’s either you build the team around him, of a player of this calibre.
“Because you’ve seen once Ole came into the door his level went up.
“He’s got 16 goals this season, albeit six of them penalties.
“But the output in terms of goals has been a marked improvement since Ole’s come here.
“So that’s something I’m sure Ole will take into account. It’s going to be [judged] over the time Ole’s been here.
“Ole will have to judge ‘do I build the team around him?’ given his ability he’s got and the attributes he has, or if Paul wants to leave.
“I would keep him here because Man United, they need stars and need players that can turn games.”
