Inconclusive elections: What Nigerians should do during rerun polls – Abdulsalami Abubakar
Ahead of the supplementary elections in some states on Saturday, former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to be peaceful during and after the polls.
Speaking during a town hall meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, yesterday, the former Head of State stressed that peaceful elections would bring about development in the society.
Abdulsalami, who was represented by the Media Officer of Kukah Centre, said: “We are trying to enforce a situation where there are peaceful elections, and ensure that there is peace after the elections.”
Also speaking at the event, the state Governor, Samuel Ortom urged Nigerians to embrace peace because it’s a major prerequisite for development.
Represented by his deputy, Benson Abounu, Ortom also called on candidates to accept the outcome of any process, which is devoid of malpractices.
Ortom commended the convener for the meeting, which he said would go a long way to foster peace during the elections.
