EPL: Ferdinand blasts Mourinho for ‘moaning’ after Man United’s 4-1 win over Fulham
Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has blasted the club’s boss, Jose Mourinho over his continuous cry out for more players in his squad.
Ferdinand said Mourinho cannot moan about transfers after their poor start to the season after the Portuguese led his team to a 4-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes had on Friday issued a surprise statement insisting the Manchester United boss was happy at Old Trafford.
But United are eighth in the Premier League table, 18 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Mourinho has spent £392.55m on transfers with a total net spend of £307.25m since 2016.
And Ferdinand is far from impressed with what is happening at his former club.
“I know Jorge very well, he’s a lovely fella,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He’s looking after his client obviously but I wouldn’t say happy would come into the sentence when you are talking about where Man United are at this stage of the season and the state that they are in. It’s a bit far-fetched.
“Mourinho came in, won three trophies in the first season and stabilised the place. But they haven’t moved on since then.
“He’s moaning about certain players in his team and the players not being as good as others.
“But he’s had a few transfer windows to make that right now.
“And unfortunately, some of the players he’s brought in are on the bench.
“Pogba, [Romelu] Lukaku, Sanchez isn’t fit.
“Fred isn’t featuring, [Victor] Lindelof and [Eric] Bailly ready made starters in his team.
“These are all signings he’s made who are not playing in the first team.
“So to be moaning that he hasn’t got the right players, he has had good windows to make that right.”
