EPL: Southampton winger gives reasons for historic 9-0 loss to Leicester City
Southampton star, Nathan Redmond has given reasons for their 9-0 loss to Leicester City in the Premier League on Friday night.
It was a Premier League record-breaking defeat for Leicester City.
Redmond was helpless as 10-man Southampton were destroyed by Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The win took Leicester to second place in the Premier League table as they overtake champions Manchester City in the process.
City set a top flight record at St Mary’s – it was the highest margin of defeat by a home side since the League began in 1888.
Hat-tricks from Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy, alongside goals from Ben Chilwell, Youri Tielemans and a free-kick from James Maddison put Saints to the sword.
And Redmond, who played the full 90 minutes of the humiliation, told Sky Sports, “It was an embarrassing performance, the stuff of nightmares and especially playing at home.
“It just wasn’t good enough and one of the poorest performances since I’ve been at the club and we’ll have to debrief that whole game from start to finish tomorrow.
“There were a host of things that went wrong – the red card decision and then the quick goal at the same time.
“We conceded goals far too quickly in the first half.
“We need to do much, much better.
“I think we had a few players out of position after the sending off and we tried to deal with it as best we could.
“There are the things we need to look at tomorrow but it was an embarrassing performance.”
