National Judicial Council (NJC) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The NJC made the call at an emergency meeting on Friday in Abuja.
The Council also recommended to Buhari names of judges to be appointed as Chief Judges and Grand Kadis for eight states – Lagos, Anambra, Ebonyi, Niger, Taraba, Kano, and Jigawa states.
The NJC commended Buhari for his unequivocal position on the financial autonomy for the state’s Judiciary.
It called on the various state Executives to, as a matter of urgency, commence its immediate implementation.
