2019 election: Methodist Archbishop speaks as Nigerians await tribunals’ verdict

Most Rev. Christopher Ede, the Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Enugu Diocese, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace as the nation await the outcome of election tribunals.
NAN reports that he made the call in a state of the nation address at the end of the church 44th Synod held at Emmanuel Methodist Church, Nsukka in Enugu State.
“The 2019 general elections had come and gone. For some it is won and lost and to others it has opened a litany of litigation.
“As we await the May 29 inauguration of newly elected officers, I congratulate all those who have won and urge magnanimity and inclusiveness.
“For some who felt disappointed at the outcome of the elections in some areas, I will only admonish that St. Paul has said that no one can be in authority unless God enables him.
“Even evil leaders can be used by God for His purpose. So let us just keep praying for those in authority as is our spiritual duty as believers,’’ he admonished.
On security challenges in the country, Ede advised President Muhammadu Buhari to muster enough political will to restructure the security architecture and choose the best hands and avoid nepotism in appointment of such sensitive positions.
