NURTW chief MC Oluomo is alive, says aide

The Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Idris Muse-Ariyoh, yesterday debunked news on social media that there was crisis in Oshodi.
Also, an aide of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader in Oshodi and state Treasurer Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo), Buhari Jimoh, described as “fake news”, the rumour that MC Oluomo is dead.
Rising from a security meeting, Muse-Ariyoh called on people to remain calm and go about their activities.
Those at the meeting included the three Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), representatives of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the State Environment and Special Offences Unit (Task Force), the Elewu of Ewutuntun, Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti and Secretary to the Local Government.
“We have the backing of the Commissioner of Police to make Oshodi secure,” Muse-Ariyoh told reporters, adding: “There is no problem in Oshodi. Anyone trying to cause mayhem will be dealt with in accordance with the law. It is a rumour that there is a crisis in Oshodi. Oshodi is peaceful. People are going about their normal duties without panic.

“What happened in Ikeja on Tuesday was purely NURTW affair.  MC Oluomo, who was injured, is responding well to treatment and he should return home in a few days,” he said.
He warned youths to refrain from violence and avoid being used as political thugs.
Oba Kuti urged parents to warn their children against violence.
“Your children must not be used to foment trouble. Whoever is caught will be prosecuted and we’ll not intervene,” the monarch said.
Jimoh urged the people not to panic, saying MC Oluomo is alive.
“We do not know what those peddling the rumour stand to benefit. It is wrong to create unnecessary fears in the society. Oluomo is receiving treatment in the hospital,” he said.
