Lasisi defeats Yohana to claim WBC International Silver title

Nigerian boxer, Aliu Bamidele Lasisi defeated Mchanja Yohana of Tanzania by unanimous decision to claim the World Boxing Council (WBC) International Silver Super Flyweight title at the famous Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra, Ghana on Wednesday night.
The 10 Rounds contest which was among the Don’s Promotion-organized eight Professional Boxing Championship fights tagged “The Battle of Titans”, saw all the three judges score the bout 98-92, 98-92, 99-91 in favour of the Nigerian.
The win in Ghana moves Lasisi to 11 wins from 11 contests in a record that leaves the 28 year old with eight knockouts and three wins via unanimous decisions.
In a chat with NationSport, the Dubai-based boxer expressed appreciation to his fans in Ghana for the support.
“After the 10 rounds of my fight, I feel so excited, because I believe I won all my rounds.
“Yohana my opponent is very smart boxer, I just take my time and I always focus for what I am doing. Ones again I want to thank all Ghana fans that came out to give me full support. My appreciation to my camp in Ghana with head trainer Adama and assistant coach Rasak and others.
“I want to thank all my fans over the world, for their great support and they are love, and I wanna  thanks my gym in Dubai Round 10 Boxing Club and I want to thank my sponsors Top8 and Angelshrup, I love u them all. I will continue to give my best no to disappoint them,” the Dubai-based boxer told NationSport.
Lasisi becomes the second Nigerian boxer to win a WBC silver title after Olanrewaju Durodola won in the Cruiserweight category when he defeated Dmitry Kudryashov in 2015.
