Atiku vs Buhari: Ighodakpo speaks on who should emerge President in 2019
A public affairs analyst, Dr. Harry Ighodakpo has stated that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, will be a better president for Nigeria than incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ighodakpo said that Atiku has better credentials as a versatile, experienced businessman who can open the doors of the country to the world to engender free enterprise and direct foreign investments.
Ighodakpo said that Atiku has better credentials as a versatile, experienced businessman who can open the doors of the country to the world to engender free enterprise and direct foreign investments.
“No country can grow without opening its doors to foreign investments both capital and labour and in this regard the current administration has failed woefully. I do not blame them but blame us Nigerians as a people who are moved to vote sentimentally without facts and proven track records of whom who we vote into office,” he told FAZENOTETV.
Ighodakpo stressed that he had on several occasions had a one-on-one interactions with Atiku and described the business knowledge and acumen of the Waziri Adamawa as awesome.
He added, “Without any intent to be partisan I must categorically state that Atiku Abubakar is by far the best of the lot currently vying for the highest office in the land. On a personal capacity I have been opportune to meet the renown statesman one on one and I am still in awe at the cheer business mind he has got. Nation building in my opinion is not about tearing down the established structures and institutions.
“Yes, for the country to be positioned for greatness the seed of corruption must be weeded out but this cannot be done in isolation. There must be a zeal, which this current administration lacks, to create constructive and reliable developmental strategies for the collective growth of Nigeria.”
Ighodakpo pointed out that the Buhari government was being divisive in its outlook, stressing that the combination of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and Alhaji Abubakar is a more informed choice.
“We should endeavour to play politics of integration against politics of division which has become the order of the day now. I also believe Atiku’s selection of Peter Obi states the obvious; the gentle man is a believer in the concept of Nigeria and this is strongly rooted in his open mindedness and belief that we are one nation and not just a pack of idiots fooled into believing that the biggest problem in Nigeria is fighting corruption instead of nation building. Has Nigeria ever been as corrupt as Russia?
“Why then has Russia not paused her development to fight corruption. Modern day governance clearly indicates that corruption can be fought whilst nation growth is ongoing,” he stated.
