APC primaries: Nnamani, Sylva, Mamora, others head screening, appeal committees
Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday in Abuja inaugurated legislative screening and appeals committees for the party’s 386 Senate and 1,587 House of representatives aspirants.
According to the ruling party’s revised timetable, the primaries will begin next Tuesday.
Oserheimen Osunbor, Clement Ebri, Timipre Sylva, Ahmad Sani Yerima, Ken Nnamani, Sharon Ikeazor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, and Olorunnimbe Mamora are among heads of the committees.
It would be recalled that Osunbor and Ebri stepped down for Oshiomhole ahead of the APC national convention.
DAILY POST reports that no fewer than 130 party members are on the list the committees posted on APC website.
All the six geopolitical zones have their respective screening and appeal committees.
Meanwhile, 15 APC State Governors seeking re-election in 2019 have been drilled by the APC screening committee ahead of its party primaries.
Those screened for Senate position included governors of Imo, Zamfara, Oyo, Borno and Nasarawa states.
Second term governors seeking re-election were also screened. They are of Kaduna, Niger, Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano, Adamawa, Plateau, Lagos and Bauchi states.
Governors Rochas Okorocha and Nasir El-Rufai spoke to newsmen afterwards.
